Ashtanga Yoga:
This class promotes the development of a personal practice and cultivates strength, stamina, and flexibility. Breathing techniques release tension and create focus. Taught in the vinyasa style, beginning ashtanga students will gain flexibility and strength before deepening their practice.
Yoga for Athletes:
The postures in this practice help athletes to balance one-sided training and thereby increase overall strength and flexibility. Coordinating breath with movement increases cardiovascular levels and improves circulation. This practice will help athletes (and other active individuals) prevent pain and injury, increase flexibility in joints and spinal column, develop correct body posture, and improve concentration.
Restorative Yoga:
Rejuvenate after a long work week with restorative stretches, standing postures, and inversions. Release stress and improve concentration through a variety of breathing techniques followed by supported deep relaxation.
Minimize Stress, Maximize Flexibility:
Yogis often say that "you are as young as your spine". This class will focus on increasing and maintaining flexibility of the spine; thereby toning and rejuvenating the nervous system. Through gentle stretches students will bring flexibility to joints and muscles as well. In this way, not only will physical stress be relieved, but also students will learn breathing techniques to minimize every-day stress.
Personal Training/Private Lessons:
Private or semi-private sessions are designed with your specific needs in mind: learn sequences to increase flexibility/mobility in shoulders, hips, and spine; practice postures to alleviate headaches, symptoms of menopause, anxiety; develop a personal practice to reduce fatigue, minimize stress, increase energy; learn pranayama practices to increase focus, calm the central nervous system; explore restorative postures, etc. These lessons include print-outs of the sequence of poses as well as thorough descriptions of the benefits of each posture. Each student will be supported and encouraged to develop a personal practice that fits his/her lifestyle. Call 413.221.1695 for an appointment.
